Frequently Asked Questions

How do you select track events?

Our service is operated by track enthusiasts. Most of the tracks on our schedule we have been to in the past, and we’re going back because we had fun the last time. Tracks we have not been to are selected on the basis of reputation and referrals from friends in the motorsport community whom we know and trust.

As for selecting a particular event at a particular track, we contact the event organizer in advance to confirm that the event format will be suitable for recreational drivers of various abilities. We are happy to provide the event organizer’s contact information to any prospective client who wishes to assess whether a particular event is suitable for them.

What does your service include?

Our service is a return transportation service.  We look after loading your car (plus tires, spares, etc.), transport to the track and unloading … then turn the car over to you.  At the end of the event we load, transport back home, and unload.  We cover all related transport costs including commercial cargo insurance, brokerage, and border fees.

Unfortunatey our staff are legally prohibited from providing any business or mechanical services when travelling to the US (not allowed to do paid work without a Green Card).  However, when at the track you will be surrounded by motorsport enthusiasts.  It has been our experience that when someone has a problem, everyone is quick to pitch in to try and resolve the problem so that we all maximize our track time.

What is the cost?

The cost structure varies by event and distance.

As a participant there are four cost areas … return transportation of your vehicle to the track (our service), track fees paid directly to the event organiser, your own transportation to the event, and lodging. Your own transportation and lodging are dependant on factors solely within your control, so you can estimate those. Typical track fees are in the range of $300 per day per driver. Vehicle transportation charges vary with the distance travelled and the length of the event (that is, they mirror our expected costs).

Please contact us to discuss the price of specific events.

Do I need a customs broker?

No.

Generally the items we transport out of Canada are returning in the same form, therefore no duty is due either entering the US or re-entering Canada. However there is a significant paperwork requirement.  All items must be documented and declared in advance, and receipts provided for any NEW-looking items (such as recently purchased tires) that we may be asked to prove should be permitted to cross back into Canada on our return. Once you provide us with some basic information and documents, we can complete all the necessary customs forms and represent you when crossing the border.  On minor purchases, we can advance duty or GST on your behalf when crossing back into Canada.

Can you haul my track wheels and tires as well?

Yes.  We have lots of room for your track tires, spare brake parts, helmet bags, and other small items.  These items must be declared in advance, however, so they can be properly cleared through US and Canadian Customs when we cross the border.

Do you insure my vehicle during transport?

Yes. We carry high-limit cargo insurance that adequately covers all vehicles while loading, transporting, and unloading. Once at the destination track, your vehicle is in your care so insurance for that period is your responsibility.

How will you secure my vehicle for transport?

We use a securement system comprised of four (4) of nylon straps per vehicle placed over the circumference of the tires and secured to commercial-grade e-track with ratchet tie-downs.  Our securement method ensures the vehicle does not move forward or backward or side-to-side, and exceeds all federal, provincial and state load securement protocols.  If you ship other goods (such as track tires or brake parts) these are also secured inside the trailer.

What happens to my vehicle when you go over rough roads or gravel?

Our trailer started its life as a commercial moving van with gentle air-ride suspension.  There is no gentler system for cushioning trailer contents from rough roads. Your vehicle is fully protected and safe inside our trailer no matter how harsh the road surface or weather conditions.

How many cars can you haul?

Our transporter holds five vehicles. We generally reserve one space on the trailer for ourselves and make the other four available. But of course we are capitalist pigs at heart, so the fifth spot on the trailer is negotiable.

What about an event I’d like to go to that is not on your schedule?

Custom trips are available.  Whether it is a specific event, or a group you would like to travel with, we can make it happen.

Can you haul my car to [Phoenix / Palm Springs / Florida] for the winter?

If there is an event on our schedule that takes us to where you’d like you vehicle hauled, we should talk.  However, we are not a typical vehicle carrier and our primary service is return transportation to specific track events.
